Naming Ceremony of a Single Mum

Family and friends we are gathered here for a simple ceremony to celebrate the birth of Michael.

This also a time when we welcome him into our lives and our hearts. It is also an invitation to all of us here to begin building memories from which he can draw strength, joy and confidence. Memories upon which he can build a loving and productive life for himself.

We want to give our children memories that will make their lives not only more enjoyable but more meaningful. We are all responsible for the love and support of Michael and are here to surround him with love, hope laughter and more importantly we are her to make a promise to him that we will be there for him whenever he needs us.

The Joy My Son Gives Me

Giving birth to Michael was scary and yet such a happy time. There are no words to adequately express the overwhelming feeling of love I felt the first moment I saw my beautiful boy for the first time. A love that will last beyond all time.

Before your child is born people give advice, share their experience with you but nothing they say can really prepare you for the reality of being a Mum. The challenges you face each day the feelings you have when he smiles at you, and you can’t describe how stupidly proud of him you are when that first little tooth comes through even if you find out about it when he bites down on your finger

Over the past nine months Michael has developed in so many ways he is not only beautiful, smart, funny and loving he is the most important person in the world to me.

I feel so blessed to be Mum to my wonderful boy.

Its 3 am they're all asleep
And no one's here to see
As we rock slowly back and forth
My Baby Boy and Me.

His little head is feather light
tucked up against my chin
I hold his tiny hand in mine
and stroke his baby skin.

The house about us creaks and groans
the clock hands creep around
He snuggles closer to me still
and makes his baby sounds.

I love these quiet hours so much
and cherish every one
store memories up inside my heart
for lonely nights to come.

All too soon he'll be grown up
his need for Mama gone
but until then I still have time
for kisses and for song.

Time for quiet hours like this
with him cuddled in my arms
where I wish he'd always stay
protected safe and warm.

And yet I know the day will come
when this tiny little hand
will be much bigger than my own
he'll grow to be a man.

Michael’s Nanna, Miranda

There's nothing like the blessing
Of a little baby boy
To fill your home with sunshine
And fill your heart with joy.
With hugs and bugs and footballs,
Baseballs, toys and grins,
You'll cherish all the memories
That you will share with him.
Take the time to walk and talk,
To share his dreams and plans.
All too soon your little boy
Will grow to be a man.

Will the Mother of the infant please bring the child forward?

Family and friends, I ask you to look upon this infant. He is the newest member of our family. He will grow strong and healthy surrounded by our love and nurturing. For him to be a part of our lives we must have a name by which to call him.

What is this child to be named?

Kelly

This child is to be named Michael .

Celebrant

 Appointment of Godparents

Celebrant

Will the Godparents please step forward?

Kelly has asked  Jenny and Steve to undertake the important task of being Godparents to Michael as they have both been there for her and Michael from the beginning (Jenny began her journey with Michael at the hospital waiting for his birth)

Kelly knows that both Jenny and Steve love and care for Michael and will love and support him always.

Steve and Jenny, the parents of Michael value your morals and believe that you each of you have much you can teach Michael.

They would ask that you serve as the teachers and guardians of  Michael in the event that they are no longer able to.

Will you accept this responsibility and honour?

Godparents

I will.

Michael’s Godmother, Jenny

For Our Godson

On behalf of Steve and myself I would like to thank Kelly for giving us the honour of being Michael’s Godparents.

Michael is such a beautiful and happy little boy and we are looking forward to watching him grow. We want Michael to know that both Steve and I will be there for him whenever he needs us whether it be for someone to talk to or for that lift home from the party when he is older (not that he is going to go to parties of course)

We love you Michael and are grateful to be part of your life.
